Happy Easter!

We had another busy, family-filled weekend with a Meyers side wedding shower and Easter. On Saturday we headed back to Fairfax for Nate Cain's wedding shower. It was a mini Stallman reunion and it's always great to see everyone. Even better, Leah was so well behaved the whole time!

No toys necessary, she just played with a spoon :)

Grandma taught me how to get my snacks out

The shower was held at the Stallman pond house they recently built. It will be a great place to have access to in the future!

We celebrated Easter and Brianna's upcoming birthday at the Schmidt's on Sunday. The weather was beautiful so we spent a lot of the day playing outside.

We discover Leah is terrified of swinging! Poor peanut!

Hanging out with Grandma Deaner

This was the only part of the play-set Leah enjoyed as she didn't like the swing or even the slide this time around. It kept her and Luke occupied for a while though!

We made sure we got an updated family picture as it was long overdue

Our happy girl :)

10 Months Old

Leah is now 10 months old and I realize that I have been bad and haven't blogged in a month! She is very busy these days, braving 4-5 wobbly steps on her own before launching herself at someone to be caught.  She is also babbling a lot more and she waves and says bye bye. Usually she waves by opening and closing both hands at once to make it extra cute :)  She is doing so well eating table food, we are completely done with all baby food/homemade squash or sweet potatoes and she now eats what we eat. This also makes Bowzer very happy as he gets to eat what Leah eats - so much for no people food allowed! She loves her puppy and is never too far away from him while we are at home. He doesn't seem to mind quite as much now that she shares her food.
Leah will toss scraps over to him or let him eat out of her hand and she thinks it is the funniest thing ever!

She has also discovered how to open and close our cabinets and one of her new favorite things to do is play with the Tupperware.

Our monthly photo shoots are getting much harder with Leah's dislike of staying still. This is especially troublesome during diaper changes. No matter how happy she is, the minute we lay her down on her back to change she starts complaining. Lucky for me, during the week I hardly have to do this since Brian does morning and bedtime changes!

10 months old and starting to become a toddle - bittersweet! I officially went down to pumping once a day at work last week which makes her getting older even more real.

9 Months Old

Our little peanut is somehow 9 months old. She is constantly on the go and always wants to be standing up and walking around something. She still has an ear infection, today at her 9 month check we had to get our first Rocephin shot and have to go back on Friday for a follow up and her second shot. Thankfully, she is still eating normally and sleeping through the night. She has been an amazing sleeper ever since early January, she consistently goes to bed between 6:30 and 7 each night and wakes up around 6:30, sometimes we even need to wake her up in the morning! It is still crazy to me that she sleeps 12 hours every night. It probably helps that she is such a busy girl, the majority of days she doesn't get great naps (if any) in at daycare because there is always something going on or someone to play with so she cant miss out - she still has serious FOMO :) She loves table food and always wants to feed herself. She is constantly babbling and almost has a wave down. She has also recently started turning pages of books by herself (usually with a lot of force and before we are ready for the next page but it still counts right? ). Every day she seems to be turning more and more into a little person vs my little baby.

Other great news - Tuesday morning she woke up and her chalazion (eye lump) was gone!! It finally drained during the night. Hopefully it is gone for good.

9 Month Stats:
Head Size: 17.2" - 47%
Weight: 17 lbs 1 oz - 30%
Length: 26.8" - 18% (woohoo we finally reached double digits!)

Peyton's 5th Birthday Party

Peyton turned 5 on March 5th so this Saturday we headed back to Fairfax for the day to celebrate. Peyton wanted to go bowling so we met at May City Bowl for a few games and I was pretty pumped to beat Brian in both games, something that never happens! Leah had a great time watching all of her cousins bowl.
Too busy watching the lanes to smile.

Hanging with Auntie Tara. It was her birthday today so we got to celebrate her as well!

All the Meyers cousins snacking before dinner.

With Aunt Jamie

Great day spent with family!

Bowzer's Surgery

On Monday Bowzer had surgery to fix his torn cranial cruciate ligament (dog ACL). He had been limping by the end of the day a lot lately, even when we hadn't done any physical activity, so we brought him into the vet last week. He confirmed that it was a torn ACL and had an opening for surgery on Monday. Since it is a 12 week recovery we were happy to get it scheduled so that he will hopefully be all healed by the time it gets nice out and most importantly, in time for pool season!  Bowzer had to stay overnight Monday so when we picked him up Tuesday night he was very ready to come home. He somehow managed to pull Brian out the door on only three legs! He is still hesitant to put any weight on his hurt leg so has been hobbling around. It's sad not having our happy puppy following us around the house but hopefully he will have a fast recovery and be back to 100% in no time! Not to mention he looks pretty silly right now with one shaved leg and some other patches of hair missing :)
Rawhides make the pain a little more manageable

Getting used to being confined in the basement since Bowz can't do stairs. Poor boy!

Double Ear Infection

This past Sunday Leah wasn't acting her happy self and was tugging on her left ear on and off so on Monday I decided to schedule a doctors appointment to get her ears checked out. We got in Tuesday morning and found out that her infection in her right ear hadn't gone away and now she also has one in her left ear. Poor little peanut! We are back on antibiotics but luckily this type we only have to take once a day as Leah isn't a fan of taking medicine. We saw a different doctor and he also prescribed us some ointment to hopefully help speed up getting rid of the chalazion (lump on her eye).

I also gave in and scheduled an eye appointment for Leah and we had that Monday morning. The ophthalmologist confirmed that it was a chalazion and that it isn't any danger to her it her vision. There isn't much we can do about it besides waiting or surgery. Since it requires the patient to be put under and it doesn't seem to bother her, we opted for the waiting option. So we will keep doing the warm compresses and try out the ointment and hopefully it will go away sooner than later!
Waiting for the ophthalmologist. She actually did very well in the waiting area, it must have helped that she wasn't feeling good since she is usually very loud!
